Hello all. Toilet and soil stack related question...sorry - a bit long winded..
My brother in law wants to move the downstairs toilet to under the stairs from the rear of the house (usual little toilet outbuilding) and move his existing 1st floor bathroom loo from the back wall to the aside wall and we were discussing new soil stacks etc last night.
His existing soil stack is on the rear wall of the house (near the corner) and main drain access cover 2.5m from rear of house. The drains run parallel to the road along the back of the properties as the ground level slopes away and the ground also slopes down from the back of house to front of house.
The patio is very close to floorboard level by the back door with main drains about 24" below surface level and the side drive slopes away quite a lot meaning the ground level is probably not much higher than underground drain level where we contemplated adding in a new soil stack. This leaves no or very very little fall to get a new stack into the main drain 'up hill' about 7 to 8m away underground.
Would a better solution be to put the new stack in on the side of the house as far back and close to the drain and run the toilet soil pipe at a 2.5' angle above ground and join into the stack close to ground level??
He really wants his down stairs loo under the stairs, and his upstairs loo on the side wall...but the drain just seesm too shallow to get a new soil stack further along the side of the house.
Any thoughts?
Cheers,
Virgil
