Hi

Hope you can help.

I have noticed that there is some damp in the cupboard under the stairs which is situated against an external wall.

After further investigation it appears that the DPC has been breached in some cases or is only an 1/2 inch or so above ground level. This is the result of the previous owner laying a tarmac drive.

I am thinking of applying bitumen paint on the outside from ground level to the bellcast.

Do you think this is an acceptable approach? Want else should I do?

Cheers,
Phil

Thanks Moz

Lowering the drive is going to be a big task - I was looking to do something else that was simpler yet effective.

Do you think that bitumen paint would be a good alternative?

Cheers

You have to tank the cavity, which is a pig of a job. As moz says lower the drive may be cheaper and easier.

you could try cutting the drive away from the wall and decorative chips put in @lower level .......don`t blame the previous owner....they were probably conned by a travelling tarmac gang  Lots in Kent apparently
