To drain these you first isolate the system electrically then the feed water for the tank for the system feed and expansion (usually in the loft, but otherwise at highest point possible). The heating system should have a drain if it has been installed properly or if you are lucky enough to have accessible isolation valves for the boiler, most do not so dont panic. Depending how the system has been fitted the water may come out of the boiler if the drain is lower than the back boiler but if not then you have the problem that only a CORGI guy can disconnect and remove the fire front to give you access to the boiler behind to drain the rest. Remember to open an airing point or two like the bleed valves on the radiators or some water will stay in the system.
This could turn out to be a bit of a pain job......... any particular reason for doing this job??

I have just moved into this 150 year old house and am renovating all the antiques in the house. I am fitting a new bathroom and putting a new radiator in the bathroom. ;) ;)

Ah well this makes things a little simpler, 1 radiator to be changed doesnt necessarily mean you have to drain the boiler particularily. If you are retaining the valves that are currently fitted then you can isolate both and only remove the water in the 1 radiator without shutting off anything else. If the radiator in question is on the same floor as the boiler and you are changing the valves as well then maybe you have to drain the system by using the method as described previously , if above you only need to drain to the level of the upstairs , no need to worry about the boiler in particular.

Thought I'd answered this - the way I go now is to freeze the pipes and put isolators under the floor - not a lot of draining or refilling then.
