drain covers

hi there,hope someone can help,i tried to lift an intregated manhole cover,ie,paved blocks sitting inside lid.got the handles up on both sides but no way it was coming up,ended up pulling the whole frame and a load of blocks around it out.
even when i got it all out,tried battering it out from the inside with no joy.
im i missing something.fitting a new one tomorrow.

Use a bolster around the edge, it will come up.

I did a patio last year and needed two covers of the sort you have spoken, the builders merchant supplied two different types although they looked the same one of the was lockable, it sounds like this is what you have.

the cover i took out must have been faulty,replaced it with another one and it opens fine,job done,thanks all
