Drain off valve on radiator not fitting right

I’m just about to fit some new radiators and I’ve purchased some of these Drayton drain off valves to place in front of the lock shields.

I haven’t applied any PTFE yet but I thought I’d pop them into the radiator (temporarily) just to get an idea of where the return pipe needs to come up from below to be able to cut the 15mm accurately.

The concern I have is that when I hand tighten the drain valve into the radiator, the screw part of the drain valve faces the wall and the drain off that you attach hose pipe to faces me. If I tightened any further (probably not a good idea) then the situation would be even worse, with the screw part starting to face the floor, and the drain off starting to face towards the ceiling!!

If I loosen the drain off valve in the radiator back to the position where it should be (screw facing the ceiling, and drain off facing the floor) then it feels way too loose in the radiator, and I’m not sure any amount of PTFE would be enough to get a nice tight fit.

What do I do here? Do I just keep wrapping loads of PTFE on it and hope for the best?

I would’ve thought that when the radiator manufacturer and also Drayton made these products, they would’ve thought of this situation?

What do I do to solve this? Add some kind of nut on the thread to stop it turning so far??

Use plenty of PTFE tape ,around 16 turns. The valve doesn't need to go in as far as it possibly can.

Thanks, just tried it with about 10-12 wraps and seems to be a lot better now. Cheers
