Hi everyone, first time posting on here.

We've moved into a house which has a oil boiler (oil kero tank outside and hot water cylinder in loft) and we're wanting to drain all the radiators so we can take them off the walls, to allow us to plaster/paint walls.

Does anyone know how I would go about doing this? I've done this many times at our last house which had a gas combi boiler. Not sure how a oil fired system works.

Any help greatly appreciated, hopefully it's quite straightforward draining and refilling!

It's the system you're draining.
Fuel matters not.
Determine if your system is sealed or gravity.
If gravity, avoid any dirt in f&e being drawn down into pipework.
Drain from lowest point.
Refill as appropriate, removing any air.

Thanks, I'll have a look. My oil boiler has a full cover with no visible pressure gauge. Filling in the last house just involved draining directly outside from radiator using a hose pipe. When refilling, just attached filling loop beneath boiler to 1.2 bar ish.

I'll try find whether it's gravity or sealed, but how would I refill and see what pressure it should be?
