I live in the Middle east, and have aluminium doors and windows, the problem is they were not fitted at all well and sand and insects get in through the cracks, I have tried various draught excluders, 'P' and 'E' type, but they don't adhere that well, and the gap is quite large.

I though that if I covered the edge of the door with something that mastic/silicone won't stick to, then I could run a bead down the frame, shut the door and create a custom made to measure seal, I could then repeat the operation on the other side of the door but protect the frame and bead the door.

Trouble is I am not sure what Silicone will not stick to, that won't affect it's curing ability, I had thought to try, masking take, clingfilm, tin foil, insulating tape, olive oil, WD40, but thought I'd see if anyone already had the answer before I tried.
