Drayton Digistat RF3 Wireless System

Can anyone help. I have moved into a property with an RF3 system and having followed the instruction guide etc I can not get the system to activate the Digistat. The thermostat reading shows a constant 34 degrees with no fluctuation and the flame symbol never appears.

I'm sure there is a simple explanation?
