We have just moved into a house with a Drayton midposition valve and it also makes a fairly loud bang every 3-4 seconds when the heating is on. It definitely feels like the reverberation comes from the valve itself rather than the pump.
It looks like the valve is stuck in position (in the middle between heating and hot water) regardless of the setting of the controller.
This is consistent with the fact that the heating comes on when we have only set the controller to hot water. There is some crusted rust around the mechanism (on the back of the unit).
I have tried to move the lever manually, although not very hard for fear of damaging it. Should it be movable by hand?
Thanks!
