HI all. I have got a Worcester greenstar 28i junior combo boiler. The thermostat currently on there is a worcester digistat. This digistat talks to the boiler via RF. I am looking to get the Drayton Wiser thermostat system but want to check it will be compatible with the boiler.
To add complications. The boiler is currently situated outside the house in its own little protected boiler area. T+E runs out to a spur then the white flex in the image below runs from the spur into the boiler. There does not currently seem to be a cable that would run into the house that I could connect the main control hub to.
Is this actually possible? If so how do I wire up the boiler up to the hub?

DIY but have been looking at Wiser a lot. Manuals and install/review videos . I have a kit on the way.
Take this as thoughts rather than advice !!!

The LS and LR terminals are for external control. You currently have a link in there.
LS to the receiver. LR from it. No idea if you are allowed to do this yourself.

Often see the Wiser receivers next to the boiler.

Depending where your receiver is in relation to any TRVs you want to control, you may need the Wiser smart plug/extender.

Amazon doing a kit with 5 TRVs for £280

This is for Hive but same principle. Mains supply and switch return.

Do you currently have issues with the digistat with the wireless aspect? If not then it should be fine in the same area as the boiler. Opening the cover on that boiler does form part of the combustion circuit though, so should only be done by someone competent to check it’s safety afterwards.

great thanks for that video. That clarifies everything for me. I want to utilise boiler modulation with the wiser kit have you got any experience with how to wire that in?

No idea. :)

There does seem to be an adapter to convert OpenTherm to EMS
Have a google and youtube

yes I have seen an adapter but actually getting hold of it seems to be tricky!

Have just upgraded from an old Honeywell dual thermostat to Wiser system. Down side is the boiler is on 24/7 (not fully fired up & circulating). Talked with Drayton & they said this is correct unless I can reconfigure the Greenstar boiler wiring??

Not entirely sure what you mean, loads of boilers are on 24/7 awaiting a demand, combi’s being in that category.

Before fitted “smart” Wiser system, boiler would switch of & wait for a demand from HW or the Honeywell thermostat. Now boiler remains on all the time as if in a local loop within the boiler, temperature reads 33-34*C.

Does that make sense?

No pre-heat on

Photo with heating on. When the Wiser is off, the blue light remains on & boiler just seems to sit in a re-circulate mode

No at present (I’m away working for 3 weeks) - it uses the same back plate as the Honeywell - will see what I can find out on the current wiring configuration.
