Dried Grout on Tile

I have some dried grout on my tile. We bite off more then we could chew and couldn't keep up with the sponge. I have read were you can use Muritic Acid to remove the grout. How about Lacer thinner? The grout is polycarbon based and the thinner will eat the plastic in the grout. Will the lacer thinner damage the tiles? Looking for suggestions!
