any ideas on the best way to drill ceramic tiles

For large holes you can use a Circle Tile Cutter, and for small holes you use Glass Drills which come in a large number of sizes. You can get them all from Screwfix or similar. Just finished fitting a bathroom with a combination of these and they did the job perfectly.
