We have a Thorn Housewarmer Deluxe back boiler. On return from honeymoon header tank was overflowing. Plumber replaced ballcock and this is resolved but now the air vent leading off of cylinder is dripping all the time unless heating system on and pump put on at top speed. Also gurgling running water sounds heard from tank area when running heating and 1 radiator cold upstairs and constantly needing bled. Any ideas?

That leaking air vent needs sorting out asap.
When the pump is on full it is dragging air in and causing all your other problems

where the water is leaking from the air vent is there a cap or screw u can turn to stop it dripping until replaced. if u can stop it leaking then u can turn down the pump & this may stop the vent pumping over . the excess air in rad will be the result of the leaky air vent & the pumping over.If the system is dirty this causes air vents to fail so u might be best replacing it with a manual one that requires a air vent key to open.

If its the type I have in mind... Reminiscent of the brass tip of a pool cue where the blue tip is actually a brass screw then you may be able to undo it a bit, wrap some ptfe round the thread and re-tighten. Perhaps simply nipping it up will do the trick.
renewing it isn't simple as you have to either drain down, freeze up or plug it to replace this fitting.
