Hi

We have a drainage problem at my house, basically the front drive which is gravelled floods to a depth which is of some concern (4-5 inches of water).

One of the reasons is becuase the guttering downpipe justs goes straight onto the drive - there is no drain. However the other side of the drive there is a drain which is the exit pipe from the kitchen/dishwasher.

I'm wondering what my options are, can I take pipe from the guttering downpipe across the drive and into the the other drain.

FYI The house is a self build (not me ) we have a septic tank

Also how much would i expect to pay for someone to do the above ? Any recommdations for firms/people in Preston.

Thanks

Hi

we have a septic tank

.

Thanks
Then you`ll need to have a soakaway for the rainwater  I`m guessing a septic tank would be overloaded with the rainwater . But a specialist septic/cesspool engineer might have a different view

dig down metre by metre fill with pea gravel Bingo, thats a rough guide but get the pitchure

If a gravel drive is not letting water soak through, then the ground may not be very permeable (eg clay), so a basic soakaway may not work.

You'll need to determine the type of soil before devising a solution.

You may need sub-surface permeable pipes leading to a drain or soakaway some distance from the house and drive

You need quotes from someone who knows what they are doing, not a passing builder
