hope im asking in the right place!

im planning on doing my own driveway, but have not much of a clue!

the driveway is going to be slabs.

so am i correct in thinking the area has to be dug 6cm down for the hardcore??

then do i put anything between the hardcore and slabs?

do i put sand in the gaps (i feel the need to "grout" as im a tiler  )

any help muchly appreciated :D

Much as I admire your pluck in having a go, I'd suggest its a big project for your first one! For a start, you have confused cm with inches - you'll need a good 6 inches of hardcore, not cm.

This forum really isn't about how to do a particular trade from scratch - as said above, there are sites which are, so I would suggest you try again here if you have specific issues. Not being rude (well, not intentionally) but it'd be like going to a financial web site and asking how to do a tax return - I'm sure there'd be someone who might take the time to tell you everything you need to know but it's hardly the time or the place....

Good luck with the project though.

thanks for advice, i put this in buliding section and got a reply there, in cms :)

and if you dont try something for yourself every now and again, youll just become reliant on others forever!

;)

I agree, but you don't learn by asking general questions like "how do I build a drive?". The answer to that would take many pages to answer.

Specifics, like how deep to make the sub-base, or how to mix the right mortar mix, etc, are what makes this forum so useful.
