if it were a hotpoit i would say it was a gearbox fault, best call a service engineer
The pulley may have ridden up worm.
If this is the case it will stick ad rotate whole assembly.
Wind down pulley on worm and grease so it doesn't get stuck.

if this is a hotpoint then yes it is a power unit (gearbox) fault. The power units for hotpoint top loaders were made obsolete about 6 months ago so no point in calling an engineer

i only said, if, (becuse i only know about a topl loader otpoint, thing is poster is in USA, so i doubt if it is a hotpoint
