Dry Lining Adhesive

I need to dry line an internal wall with 9mm plasterboard to hide cracks in plaster. Planning to use 5/6 dabs of adhesive per 8'*4' sheet to stick board to wall but what is my best options for adhesive from the following:

Coving adhesive
quick set joint adhesive( for plasterboard)
tile adhesive
patching plaster

I have removed loose wallpaper but do I need to steam strip all wallpaper?

are you removing the existiing plaster? don't forget to bond the surface (PVA) before you start drylining..
