I may be posting this in the wrong place but i can;t find where to put it.
We live in a stone built, mid terrace with a blind back (no doors or windows at the rear.)
Recently the upstairs bedroom was found to have plaster that had bubbled. We found a leaking guttering which had saturated the outside wall and seeped through.
The guttering has been repaired so we've now got to dry the wall out.
The wall appears to be a thin skim coat of plaster on a cement type layer. Am i right in thinking we should knock off the damaged skim coat then keep the room well aired and ventilated until the damp patches have gone before we look at replastering. We'll be getting a pro in to handle the replastering.
The small damp patch where the bubbled bit came off has already begun to noticeably shrink in the last 2 or 3 days since we found it.
