Hi

I have been cutting some holes into the plasterboard walls in my house.

When I removed some of the dry wall screws there was light rust on the shank, where it passed through the plasterboard.

There was no rust on the threads that went in to the timber studs. The rust did not come through the filler on top of the screws either.

Is this common ? I am assuming the dampness comes from the filling and taping when the walls are being finished ?

Many thanks in advance.

Were they dry wall screws or ordinary screws?

Timber could have been damp when fixed .They could have been rusty on install.

I'm f they weren't excessively corroded and no rust marks on the plasterboard surface, I wouldn't worry about it
