I got a special value 7.5l tub of this paint last week. I have used it on a ceiling, and in certain lights you can see every roller line. They cant be felt on the ceiling, and when the light isn't hitting it the job looks decent.

Have I picked a bad paint for this? Should I have used contract matt, or some other flat matt?

I used a 12" medium Prodec roller on a pole. First coat I pressed too hard, so sanded it back, and then ended up doing 3 more coats not pushing too hard, in alternate directions, and making sure I got plenty of paint on the ceiling, and minimal rolling (Paint on, 2 passes to spread it, then a very very gentle pass to remove roller marks).

Any help appreciated, it's making me annoyed!

I used leyland smart matt when rolling ceilings.
Nice white ( ice white) and was a good flat finish.

The answer is to spray the ceiling. It's the only way to get a great finish. Not that a DIY person could do that...

If you can feel the build up, your application is possibly to fault.

That said, some paints are more forgiving than others.

I always struggled with the Dulux trade VM tbh.
Needed water to thin and a good roller but could still look patchy.
I just think there are flatter finish emulsions for ceilings with critical light.

I cannot feel anything, just see it so I guess it's minor

Thats what I hoped to hear to be honest - it's not all my fault :) I did also slightly thin it, but was worried having read excessive water can interfere with the vinyl, again causing the issues I have!
