I have a duff DVD recorder and purchased a replacement on E-Bay. It appears I have the wrong type (SATA).

The top pic is the new one and the bottom the old.

Is it possible to adapt the new one to replace the old or, if not, can I get a lead to connect the new one to a USB port.

TIA

Unfortunately you can pick up an IDE DVD writer for less money than the adaptor, however those adaptors are pretty handy for plugging in hard drives etc.

Another alternative would be to buy a SATA PCI card, for around a fiver on eBay.

This would at least allow connection of future SATA devices, assuming that you dont have any SATA ports on your MB already.
