E11 FAULT WITH HOOVER WASHER DRYER

READ EARLIER REPORTS ON FAULT, REMOVING THE WASHER DRYER FROM POSITION I PULLED OUT THE POWER CABLE FROM THE MACHINE, NEEDING TO PLUG THE SPADES BACK IN AND NEED TO KNOW THE CORRECT POSITION, ALSO HAVE CHECKED ALL SPADES AND VISIBLE WIRING FOR ANYTHING BROKEN OR LOOSE AND CAN FIND NOTHING AMISS ANY OTHER HELP

The power cable leads go directly to the mains suppressor. The earth cable obviously goes to the earth (body). There a 2 power wires into the suppressor & 2 wires out. Look at the suppressor, the brown & blue power wires go to the 2 vacant terminals on the opposite side of the suppressor. Just line the colours up the same way. Post a photo if you are still unsure.
As per previous fault messages for model HDB854D....E11 could mean an open circuit on the dryer element, thermostats, NTC probe, or in the worst event a faulty pcb. You need to remove the lid to investigate further with a multimeter (plug out first).

Hi thanks for the info on the power cable, we did this and tried the wash cycle again after checking for loose wires, spades and poped stats with no clothes and no fault came up, then did a normal wash load and the e11 fault came back on but not so quickly as it had been doing is there any thing else we can try

Ok....you checked the thermostats & for loose connections...but did you check the heater element resistance or NTC function???
E11 is a well known quirk on these machines. If the NTC has spade terminals make sure the wires are solidly attached to them.
Then remove the NTC & measure the resistance cold....then hot. At 25C it should measure 48kohm, if you partially submerge the NTC body hot water (85 - 90C) the resistance should drop to around 2kohm.

This is where the internet is just great! Though a retired electrical engineer I wouldn't have found this at all easily and this is the second time it's happened. Vaguely remembered searching for solution before and Presto... got it again. This time it was the other wire broken from it's receptacle at the sensor. Many, many thanks... has saved us a chunk of money.
What bugs me is that this is really a quality matter but us users have to pay expensive service charges for a manufacturer's fault.
