renault 1.2 clio.. timing belt broken maybe a few valves gone, I am a fairly competent DIYER and ive got a haynes manual so should i attempt to change belt or pay garage loads money. out of interest how long would it take a garage ? cheers P M
Expect the garage time to be between 8 and 10 hours - it could be slightly more if yours is a 16v engine. Normally we would replace the belt then do a compression test to see if the valves have copped it, and generally they do. If yours is a 8v D7F engine, budget for a new water pump too as these are always flying apart.
