EcoTEC plus 832 and SensoHOME/SensoCOMFORT connections

Hello All,

I have an EcoTEC plus 832 manufactured 2018. I am about to purchase either a wireless Vaillant SensoHOME VRT380F or SensoCOMFORT VRC720F (yet to decide if I want a wireless outdoor sensor), to replace faulty Honeywell thermostat.

For the VR940F myVaillant Connect, I believe I need the VRA42 Power Adapter Board or do I need the VRA42 version with 3 pin plug?

How are all these components connected? I will get a SafeGas engineer to fit the Senso product when he services the boiler. I have seen on YouTube, Sensonet (now replaced by MyVaillant Connect) is connected to the boiler and the Sensonet is then daisy chained to the SensoHOME Gateway unit. I spoke to Vaillant tech who advised the myVaillant Connect and the radio receiver unit are fitted separately to the boiler, not daisy chained. I may have misheard him so would like some clarification on that please. What type of additional wiring to get for the engineer?

A 2018 boiler will require the internet module to be remotely (wall) fitted ie it will not mount directly to boiler chassis as predates the MyVC therefore you need the plug top power adaptor.

All the various modules communicate via a low voltage two wire 'Ebus', Controllers and room units receive power from the Ebus (obvs not wireless units) with the bus being powered at the boiler/HP and where used VR70/71 wiring centres through built in on board PSU

Gateway devices (VR900/920/940) and Vsmart have always used plug top power supplies ( cheapskate and untidy IMHO, or on the latest ecotec plus boilers the plugtop unit can be replaced by the power adapter board that you have seen.
I strongly suspect Vaillant buy these inits in as they just seem to be 'different' to the usual very high quality Vaillant Ebus gear.

As a 25 year veteran installer of Vaillant controls I would strongly recommend going for a wired system, Vaillant wireless versions are always glitchy, slow to wake up/respond making it much harder to commission and /or diagnose issues should they arise.

You'll also need to ensure your installer is experienced with Ebus WC controls, many don't understand them and will get themselves in an unholy mess
