Edge band trimmer

The best one is the Virutex (also sold under the name Wegoma - they share a lot of products) - who pretty much invented these. They also do an end trimmer, unlike the copy cats. They are really only worth using if you are doing hundreds of feet of edging, though. Almost all the others, including the CMT, are cheap Chinese knock offs and replacement cutters often can't be had for them when they go blunt, unlike the Virutex/Wegoma. Chamfering on 0.8 or 1mm thick melamine edge banding makes almost no difference - no matter how you do this it is often still be necessary to scuff the edge with some fine sandpaper to take the arriss off. Oh yes, and NONE of these tools can handle curved edges such as edges on round table tops - for those the cheap approach is to get yourself a sub £2 Stanley glass scraper which when combined with a sanding board can do anything the fancy edge trimmers can do - and that's what I use out on site for shortish runs, repairs, etc. In any case you'll need something like that to trim the overhanging ends off.......
