I am planning on dry lining a wall which I will tape, joint and sand down before I paint it. It will not be skimmed.

I have bought the thin metal edge strips for external corners. Should I be screwing these in or bedding into the joint compound? I was concerned that the screw heads may pop out too much given that I am not skimming the wall.

Thanks in advance.

I used thin coat beading previously and remember being unsure on whether I should screw it in...
I think I bedded it into the compound in the end

I could do. Thought I’d check whether there was a recommended method for fixing these

I stick them on with plaster when skimming but hold them in position with drawing pins or the like till dry enough to take them out .If the ones youve done in the past haven't fallen off or cracked , happy days

UPDATE: I tried just using the jointing compound but found that it would pull away at the bottom whilst I was working at the top and vice-a-versa. In the end, I popped a few dry wall screws at an angle to stretch it out and fix tightly. I removed the screws once the compound was dry.
