Hi, I have an old efco jet 400 and need to replace the carburettor. The original parts seem to be very hard (and expensive) to get hold of. Can I use a generic part for this machine? Any idea after would work with it?

Are there any identifying marks on the carb, such as a name (Zama maybe) or any numbers?
A picture would help!

Hi, yes I see the walbro brand on the carb but no sign of a serial number unfortunately.

Walbro usually have two letters followed by three numbers.......very difficult to see!
If this fails then I'm afraid it's looking like a trawl through the offers on Amazon or ebay is the way to go.
John :)

Although these might be reference to the relevant patent numbers rather than serial code

Yes, the number should be on the alloy carb body somewhere.
Can I ask what's wrong with the carb?
John :)
