OK so I would like to fix the damp problem that I have in my house and I just wanted a bit of advice as to if this is a sensible approach to the problem.
Firstly what the problem is, damp that results in salt deposits 20cm to one meter from the floor. 20cm in the hallway this is on an internal wall that is shared with next door. The other wall is again internal between my front room and my dining room. There is no pipe work above or below these two internal walls although the house was empty for 4 years without heating and single glassed until we bought it.
My proposed solution…
Remove the plaster.
Inject the wall with a Water repellent chemical such as DAMPCURE at the recommended intervals.
Clean wall with salt neutraliser leave to dry for a week.
Cover wall in Bitumen Based Damp Proof Membrame Liquid
Replaster
Does this sound like a sensible plan?
