EHE0200361 thermostat stuck in auto

Hi all, I have a Centre EHE0200361 and its stuck in auto mode. I can't turn if off or on to manual. I can change every other setting. I tried taking the batteries out over night, no luck. It works fine but I can't turn it on manually.
I tried all the manuals and now where does it have a hard reset button.

No luck, the first step is to put the controller into "off" mode. Mine is stuck in "auto", tried it regardless. It did turn the display off for a second but nothing else happened. Still stuck in "auto".

It looks as if the buttons are similar to those of an infrared remote control.
Often the contacts beneath the rubber buttons can get dirty, or the pads on the buttons can lose their conductivity.
Do you feel like taking it apart?

It's a little tricky to get into...

At least it will give you an idea if there is a fault. Putting a screwdriver over the contacts should change the mode. If it doesn't, it's not just dirty contacts that are the problem.

Fixed, there was some residue on the buttons , cleaned it up with some alcohol on a swab. Now it works perfectly.
