My aunt's upright 9.9 cubic feet freezer packed in last night.
I've looked at the plastic body relay that fits on the side of the compressor. Its burnt a bit of the plastic which seems to be due to loose fitting connectors.
Anyway, when plugged in, one of the terminals is sparking and glowing red as soon as switched on.
Obviously a new relay switch and the cable cut and new ends made off.
The freezer is probably 20 years old.
Are the universal type relays a likely replacement if they have the same terminals ?
