Electoral register

I am trying to locate a former workmate, i know he has moved house within the last 18 months, someone as suggested to search the electoral regisrter. How do i go about this, on line searches seem to relate to 2007 register, to view the 2008 version do i need to visit the library ? Do all libraries have the whole electoral register, or would i have to visit one in the area i think he's living. Any help much appreciated, i've exhausted other lines of enquiryand we have no mutual friends, or family contacts.

you could try friends reunited on the off chance he has joined one of the work related sections

Thanks tim i've already tried that, i've seen on-line sites that for a small fee will do the searches but i feel they might just come up with his previous addresss (recent-ish move) which i already know

The latest Electoral Register will have been available to view from 1st December 2007 and should contain all electors who lived in the area upto 15th October 2007.

Contact the Town/City Hall where you think he may live to arrange a viewing of the Full List. If he has opted out of the Edited list you will have to check the full list.

The Edited Register is the copy of the register that contains only the names of those voters that have not opted out of having their names passed on for non-electoral purposes. It can be inspected at the Town Hall during normal office hours Monday to Friday.

The Full version of the register is available for public inspection. However, the Representation of the People Regulations 2006 state that this inspection must take place under supervision.

Anyone wishing to inspect the Full version of the register may find that they can do so by prior appointment only. Please contact Electoral Services
