Hi everyone, I hope someone can answer this for me.

I have bought some electrically operated blinds, they are internally fitted security blinds and made of metal. Each blind has a small electric motor which is 230V and 120W. I want to know if it would be ok to power these from my ground floor rings via fused connection units, or should they be wired onto their own circuits?

Whilst I am at it, I am wanting to install CCTV camera's externally, and I have seen this done via waterproof sockets at high level, is this the best way of doing it as it seems little vulnerable to me. The camera's I will be buying require a 230V supply as they have a transformer in the housing to power the camera.

Your suggestions and advice would be very much appreciated. I am aware of Part P, but as it is my house I feel I can do what I want in it, so long as it is safe.

FCU with 3A fuse :)

The transformer is in the camara as opposed to a wall wart type thing?, flex from camara into adapable box via stuffing gland, through the wall in T&E, then to an FCU on a suitable circuit (I'd try and take it from one thats not RCD protected, if you have a dedicated circuit for an alarm panel that'd be ideal, but if not then possibly the lights, unless you have another suitable circuit or room in the CU for a circuit just for the camaras)

I saw nuffthink ;) (Though the blinds arn't notifiable, don't know about the camaras though, though if you add a new circuit for them, it will be)

Thanks for the reply Adam. Your are correct, the transformer is in the housing, it is because the external housing has a window wiper on it and a heater to prevent the camera freezing in the cold.

I'll do as you suggest with the power, I'll go internally from the upstairs ring circuits and feed them via a 13A fused connection unit with a smaller rating fuse in them.

Once again, many thanks for the advice. I'll be sure to ask again when I have a problem, I am sure I will have some.
