Hi,

I have a Baguley electric boiler, which has stopped heating the water on economy 7, the other option still heats it though.

I have had a look at the themostat (pencil like instrument) and there is no sign of it being burnt out, as has happened previously (I also assume that the would would not heat at all, or just always overheat, if the thermostat was the problem.

Can anyone give me a clue as to what could possibily be wrong and how to fix it.

Many thanks

Presumably this is a timed thing - suspect the timer is kaput

may be, but timer may be supplied from supply co?

have you a multi meter, it may just be the element that has "gone"

There isn't a timer to adjust.

Don't have a multi meter but I will look more into the element being the source of the problem.

thank you

if its economy 7 thee has to be a timer of some description, or how else could ecomomy 7 be turned on at the right time?. How ever i never said you can adjust it, it may be part of your meter. I was trying to get at , do you have anything else on economy 7 and does that work?

Nothing else on economy 7, I'm afraid.

The light in the socket box does come on during the economy 7 times, so would that mean it was not a problem with the timer?

Somehow the boiler must "know" it's on Eco 7 - different internal wiring or something? Otherwise the fault has to be elsewhere, like in the supply end. A light just might still work with a high resistance supply I spose.

I think it is the element that has gone. I hear it can be quite tricky to replace, especially if your water supply is hard (which it is, there is a heavy build up of limescale).

can anyone give me an estimation as to what the cost of a replacement boiler would be?
