Hi
we have an electric shower ( triton Ivory) and when someone flushes the loo it goes scalding. is this just what electric showers do or can i resolve this.
want to put another shower downstairs and don't want same problem. Spoke to Mira about their thermostatic elec showers and they said I would only stop getting this problem if i had a 1 bar maintained pressure - how do i know if I have this. Our water presure is really high - could this be the problem.

Thanks in advance

Make sure your mains stoptap is fully open. Also that your shower rose isnt blocked.

It wont stop it totally because to an extent you are right - Thats what electric showers do! They do have thermal cut-out protection to protect you from scalding and it is possible that your shower is fitted with overheat protection and its not working properly. The downside is that when they do work properly they often turn off the power to the element resulting in dangly bits being froze off.
A thermostatic electric shower is something that I havent played with. I can't be arsed with showers these days. I assume it has some way of regulating the current to allow for the differing flow rates while the shower is in use.

The easiest way to deal with your problem is to let everyone know you are in the shower and ask them not to flush the toilet
