About 2 years ago my electric shower started going burning hot for about 15 seconds then freezing cold for 15 seconds.
After a few weeks it seemed to fix itself and has been working fine since, until last week when it started doing the same thing.
Any suggestions? or do i need a new shower? any suggestions would be great.

I would suggest your water flow might have been reduced by say turning a stoptap back a little therefore your shower water overheats which trips the thermal cutout which stops the water heating so when it cools it resets the cutout which lets it overheat again etc etc.
So try your stoptap(s) and turn it full on to increase the flow (some thing they are turning pressure up/down by doing this but actually it is the flow they are adjusting.

It could also be a faulty thermostat (if it has one) causing a thermal overload to operate, cool down, reset, heat up etc

Hi, thanks so much for getting back on that. I have checked with my flatmate who has just told me that he had tried to shut off the water the same day the shower stopped working properly. I have now fixed the problem thanks to your advice. (nearly bought a new shower yesterday so i'm very grateful!)
