I am currently fitting an electric underfloor heating kit on to a concrete floor (then tiling on top). There is 6mm of insulation board going down, followed by the matt, followed by a self-levelling screed and finally the tiles.
All is going well. I just put the insulation board down when I had an idea, why not add some reflective foil under where the matt is going to give some extra insulation by reflecting the radiated heat? Then I thought about it a bit and thought it's probably a bad idea as the screed won't key to the foil under the matt. So I thought of a compromise, how about some foil tape, just under the heating wire? (so only a minimal surface area is foil, but it's still reflecting the radiant energy where needed.)
Can anyone with experience laying screed advise on whether this is ok?
