My son came downstairs and told me that the upstairs lights were not working, so I went to the main box, usually it trips if a bulb goes. Anyway I went to flick the switch back on and it started sparking and switched back off, to afraid to try again.
now today we had a sparky up the loft trailing new wires for our loft conversion, not saying he has done something wrong but it made me think. he hasnt connected to the main box yet i dont think.
is it worth me trying again to switch the mcb or whatever they are called :?:

I'd leave it off and get the sparky back to have a look.

Bah, beaten by Breezer!!

theres a fair chance that some origional wires have been disturbed causing a short
or even some new preparations in connection with the old fault causing a dead short
use plug in lamps to give you light in your rooms and contact the electrician and explain the problem

but dont flick the mcb on
