electronic Water Softener / Decalcifier

has anyone tried an electronic Water Softener / Decalcifier.

you wind the cable around the cold water pipe as it enters you house and plug it into the mains, its suppose to charge the calcium particles in your water supply so that they do not stick to your pipes or appliances.

there selling them on ebay for £17.98 with delivery.

any good.

what do you want one for? acording to this you live in a soft water area

some say they are good some say not, waste your money and let us know if it makes any difference

there can be calcium deposits around our area. so i presume you have identified a problem. you kettle element is usually a good indicator. personally i've a comercial customer who drastically reduced lime scale by fitting an appliance hose which has a magenet attached to it.
