Engine oil flush..

a very important question, how regular have previous oil changes been?

If, for example, you have just bought it, the oil is thick and black and the filter is so old it has gone rusty, or it has been laid up for several years, then it would be a sensible precaution.

But if it has been well-maintained and oil changes done on schedule, and it is less than (say) 20 years old, there should be no need.

The problem with flushing the oilways is that you may dislodge crud that then doesn't come right out. This can then find a new home in smaller oilways and clog it up further. Regular oil changes are best ;)

been changing the oil regular, on a maintained x reg. clio.
on one oil change i used oil flush that is added to the old oil,
sold to me by a sales chap from a well known car shop that sounds like "half boards". had a slight niggling suspicion ... looks like he made a mug of me lack of knowledge then!
