Hi all.

I`ve just bought some engineered wood flooring. Now its for a second floor flat, concrete based but with bitumen or ashphalt ( I think for laying the vinyl tiles on), by the looks of it may have been down 20 + years.

However in the entrance there is a dip of around 5 mm over a distance over 1 metre (probably the same over 600mm) I think through wear? There is also a dip where there has been a hearth (the base of the fireplace) which has around a 6mm dip over a similar distance.

I think I need to use a self levelling compound, probably containing latex to fill these dips/valleys. Does this sound correct? any other ideas/advice.

As its a second floor flat, do I have to lay a damp proof membrane? does a pva solution fulfill this rather than laying down plastic? If I need to use plastic what do I do with it at the edges and corners?

Any other advice appreciated.

Thanks
