In my cloakroom the old halogen downlight fizzled out when a pipe leaked, I thought I'd just buy a nice new LED downlight and swap it out, but a few questions have arisen.
The electrician that installed the old halogen light did not connect earth to the light. I looked at the junction box and the other end of the cable is connected to the earth terminal, so I suppose it was a double insulated light and the earth cable is just snipped off and left.
The new LED light I bought has loop in and out, push connectors, as seen here http://db.aurora.co.s3.amazonaws.com/FamilyData/22995/13115/FileUpload/128528.pdf
as there is only one light I presume I need only to connect to the 'inner' L N and E on the block, but I can't find the information for that easily.
So, I think my job is just to strip back the cable to expose the earth wire, sleeve the earth, then connect up L N and E to the "inner" L N E on the light block. If there's more to it I'll just call in a pro.
Cheers
