I need an entrance mat for my polyfloor/karndean style flooring its around 4/5mm thick.

The mat will cover the first 1m of the entrance, would I be better off with the coir style matting or ribbed style? I knowm if I fit coir I will need to recess as its pretty thick, but the ribbed would not be so bad..

Is there any benefits to either one?

The flooring is a walnut style it will join too so I'm thinking a brown matting would be best..

The ribbed stuff will be a little easier to clean and cheaper to replace as well as beng at least a third thinner than natural coir. In my experience, the natural coir tends to shed for a while and the standard natural colour will show pressure/marking fairly quickly, the coloured stuff is better.

For your circumstances, i'd suggest the thinner product suits the application better, just be wary that the lines don't always run across the roll, they often run down the roll. Also it's common that it may only be available in 2m widths so you may get two mats out of the single piece that you order.

Hopefully the thinner ribbed stuff is still ok for cleaning shoes ok, I know the coir is really good. Thanks for the advice Dave.
