Hey.

A freind has asked me to fit her kitchen including new chipboard worktops, mason mitred in on 3 sides. Can't really justify spending more than £60 on a router to do the job at the mo and yet just can't resist that 'must-buy-new-tool' itch, so don't want to hire. I've been using a Performance Power, 1/4" router for the past few years on odd routing jobs and that's served me fine. Only cost £25! Not quite man enough for worktop fitting though.

I've seen this Erbauer 1/2", 1850W router on ebay for £29.95 +p&p. Never used any of their stuff so was wondering what they were like for quality? I've seen a 2000W one on Screwfix for £80 ish.

Is 1850watt/40mm plunge enough for what I want to do (assuming I take it in 3 passes)?

Thanks.
:D

Blimey, he must have bought a warehouseful. I was looking for a router well over a year ago and he was selling these back then, for the same price. I very nearly bought one but then got a slightly better Axminster one for £40.

A steal at that price I reckon, obviously you get what you pay for but you are getting a lot for £30. Even if you are doing jobs for a 'drink' it will probably pay for itself after a couple of fittings. Worth a punt I say.

I bought one of these about 2 years ago (probably off the same bloke). Have done my worktops, my sisters and both brothers plus 2 mates. No problems, perfect fit. I also have their biscuit joiner which works well also.

Good enough for me! :D

Like I said, will only need it for those 'now-and-then' jobs, so don't want to spend boatloads on one.

Off to eBay with me pennies it be!
