Got a few gaps behind my toilet in the garage conversion which need filling, around where the waste pipe (copper - with a foam cover) heads up to join the main waste stack. These gaps are between the external wall, foam insulation board, and a wooden backboard which the macerator sits against. My aim is basically to seal the room from the external wall, to stop bugs/spiders/cold draughts getting in. Was thinking of stuffing some fibreglass insulation down into the gap to further insulate, and prevent the foam falling down the inside of the wall.
Does expanding foam corrode metal pipework, or foam jackets for pipes? Is there anything else I need to watch? I have a plentiful supply of disposable gloves, masks and glasses. I'm assuming foam (while its in its liquid state), will be damaging to any plastics so will keep it away.
