Hi all,

I live in an ex-council house and on the two end bedrooms there are exposed hip rafters in the corners (See Picture example below)
I have had all the ceiling boarded and replastered downstairs and looking to do the same upstairs.

I think that they look rather ugly and I am looking for suggestions on how to make them look better.
Whats best on how to tackle the plaster boarding and would the rafters need any kind of treatment if they were to be boarded over.

Any suggestions would be most helpful. Cheers

As the sloping area in that type of collared ceiling is extremely prone to condensation related damp issues (particularly if/when the main loft area is insulated) you could do worse than underlining with PIR insulation flush/slightly lower* than the bottom of the rafters and underboarding with plasterboard to conceal them.

*try to get 25mm PIR directly under the rafter to prevent cold bridging.
