Quyestion I bnought a gallon of exterior green paint for my house and decided to go with yellow instead. However I have the same color green on the walls in my living room and its badly needing a new paint job. Can I use the exterior satin latex paint on these walls inside and if not, why not?) Other than the obvious(exterior being tougher to handle the outdoor elements of weather etc. is there another valid reason NOT to put it on the walls indoors)ie. harder to clean etc.?)thanks

WHY Do you ask that? It's a honest question! I asked because I want to know. What exactly is the difference between exterior (satin latex)paint and interior satin latex paint. Is it really beyond comprehension that someone MIGHT wonder IF you could use the exterior on the inside walls? I cant get my money back to I am wondering if I can put it to use anywhere inside the house OR not. If its not do able then I won't but I ask because I don't know!

Is there a helpline phone number on the tin to help you ?

Copy & paste,

Can I use interior paints outside?

We do not recommend using an interior-labeled paint for exterior use. Interior paints are designed for specific use on interior surfaces, hence performance and film integrity may be compromised if used on exterior surfaces.

Exterior paints are designed for specific use on exterior surfaces, hence performance and film integrity may be compromised if used on interior surfaces. Additionally, exterior paints typically have included in their formulation mildewcides, to resist the growth of mildew on the dry paint film, and the level of mildewcide in the exterior paint may be above the level recommended for interior use.

You may get away with it but depends what your paint is made of and the only people will know is the manufacter, should be a helpline or website on the tin somewhere.

Masona: thank you very much for that very useful information!! :D I will investigate further...

Yep you are right. Apparently they use alot more mildicide in exterior paint due to the varying types of weather so its not safe to use indoors because we'd be inhaling it. So I guess I will save it for another time when I feel the urge to paint something outdoors Mint Green!(btw: for those who care: I painted the house light yellow instead!) LOL

So you're not going to take the sunglasses advice as well ? ;)

Why do you two think I 'll need sunglasses. Its just a light yellow!! What'd ya think I painted it in bright gawdy florescent glow in the dark YELLOW??

No I hope not ! as you don't know
This was to do with our UK comedy programme called " Only Fools & Horses"

They paint this statue in yellow paint and glow in the dark ! They ended up wearing sunglasses !

Ah Hah..get it now. Couldnot for the life of me, figure out why you guys thought YELLOW was so bad? Now I see...If its any consolation prior to the yellow it was a brighter gawdy GOLD and everyone hated it so I toned it down to pale yellow!! I tell ya everyone in this house is a critic!! LOL :p
