Hi Folks,

Hoping someone may be able to help.

I need to extend the cable for a washing machine fused spur (please see photo) and then attach to a metal clad switched fused spur.

If this is possible, which connector blocks would I need. 5A, 15A, 30A ?

Thanks in advance

Those conductors need re-terminating.

What are you trying to do regarding extending the wiring?

I'm trying to extend the cables so that i can relocate the spur so it's fixed against the wall.

For a start, there should be a back box in the wall behind that conti board stuff.

Is there? And how far/deep is it?

You may be able to extend the wires with 2.5mm2 cable and wagos, and use long 3.5mm machine screws, but would the conti board stuff would need cutting out.

Or a surface pattress may be the answer.

You mention metalclad. Do you mean traditional surface mounted metalclad??

What exactly do you mean?

The device in the picture is a Fused Connection Unit. The cable coming from it is the spur hence it is a fused spur.

So do you mean you need to extend the cable for another FCU for the WM?
Why can you not fit a longer cable?
Are you then going to connect the WM flex directly to that new FCU?

Another photo from further away would be useful to see exactly what is going on there,

There is a back box but the problem is the conti board is covering most of it. I'm not at the house but can measure it tomorrow morning.

I was thinking of extending the cables and attaching to a traditional surface mounted metalclad but the surface pattress looks like the better option.

Do you have a link for which wagos I need to get please?

The FCU in the photo needs to be moved because it's not safe/secured to the wall. If I can remove the cables from the FCU, extend them and wire them to a relocated FCU.

Sorry this is the only other photo I have at the moment. The boiler spur is in the background. I was thinking of moving the washing machine spur below it but using a surface patress box as recommended by sparkwright because it'd be easier than chopping into plasterboard/brick.

Thanks for all the replies, just need to know which type of connectors to use to extend the cable if anyone can kindly suggest some.

That's a tricky one to do properly, with the conti board, and the hinge, and the lack of space.

I see you have a flushed in socket right next to it.

You MAY be able to use this as a junction box, and fit a blank plate over, anf then fit a surface mounted socket and a surface mounted FCU somehere convenient.

I suggested wagos as they are handy in awkward spaces.
