Extending driveway: tarmac alternatives?

Hi all. I need to extend my driveway. At present it runs down the side of the house and is tarmac. I have had a couple of quotes and one of them recommended going for an alternative to tarmac as it is very expensive. He suggested using concrete and dying it black to match the existing driveway.

Does anyone on here have any comments or thoughts on this? Would you expect it to match up or would it look like a poor job?

it will look pants. in a few years time it wont be black it will be grey.

The quotes for Tarmac have come back at twice the price of concrete so I was hoping it wouldn't look any worse.

If you think Tarmac is expensive just as well you're not block paving it....
I've just spent 16 grand on changing my drive from paving slabs to block paving...
