Extending floor joists

Hi all, can someone give me some advice?

I've just had a external wall removed and following the architects plans 2 x steels have been fitted.
The floor joists have been put into the lip of the steel so they sit on the inside of the steel.

My problem is 2 of the floor joist are shorter and only sit on about 10/15mm which I'm not happy about. I'd like to extend these two joists so they sit on properly.

I was thinking of bolting a new joist onto the existing so it sits in nice.
The joists are 7 x 2.

How many bolts would be sufficient? 2/3?
And how long should I leave the gap to drill the holes for the bolts? From the end of he existing joist.
Also what size threaded rod is sufficient? 12mm or 16mm?

I'd appreciate any help.

You should put 2 pieces in, one each side, otherwise there may be a tendency for the beam to twist.

Oh ok, so sandwich it? But new joists on both sides and bolt together?

Is 12mm threaded rod sufficient?
