Hello we extended our existing flat roof with an overhang round the house which we had a roofer do which was fine. unfortuneately my neighbour has put up an eyesore in my view so i just want to extend it a little, a small1600 by 850mm addition. I wondered if i could do it some way myself as i cant get anyone to come and do such a small it. I obviously i cant torch but can i stick? If so how and what? Could i overlap existing new felt? Any advice welcome, it is not over the house so leak although not wanted not terminal.

i apologise if im not clear enough. Pictures wouldnt help as i haven built the timber extension to the over hang yet. Basically we have an existing felt roof over an extension which has an overhang beyond the extension of some 900mm. I havent put on the sofit and fascia yet and want to take this opportunity to build out an additional small area, i would need to felt this small area and overlap onto existing roof. Can i do it myself, if so what would i use to do it and how?

Your roof already overhangs the structure by 900mm and you want to extend it further?

It will require support/restraint.

yes im ok on the structure its attached to wall on side aswell just want to know best way to integrate into existing roof so that it can drain away.
cheers jon

Your question seems quite clear to me - if you extend your flat roof, how do you stick the new felt onto the existing felt?

Sorry I don't know the answer!

I do have a couple of questions though:

-where and how does the existing flat roof drain?

-if you already have enough overhang, and the new piece of flat roof is essentially cosmetic, would it work to have a small gap between them and felt the extension piece separately?

Felt torch on to old it is, bend roof it may overhang it does too much.
